Psychological Evaluations
What happens during a psychological evaluation?
A psychological evaluation consists of a clinical interview and psychological testing.  It is an efficient way of obtaining the necessary personal and historical information to assist you in getting effective treatment.  Testing offered includes IQ, academic achievement, personality assessment, and other specialized tests.  These tests aid in diagnostic clarification.
How do I prepare for the evaluation?
No special preparation is necessary.  It is recommended that you get a good night’s rest and eat normally before the evaluation.  You can take your regular medication but should avoid alcohol and illicit drug use prior to the evaluation.
What should I bring with me to the appointment?
You should bring any necessary adaptive devices, such as canes, walkers, glasses, and hearing aides.  If you have copies of any previous evaluations, please bring them with you.  Bring your medication or a list which includes the name of the medication, dosage, and frequency.  Bring your current insurance card and a photo ID.
